Do you find it more enjoyable to view artwork if you are also able to read an artist's description of it? (Feel free to elaborate on what you'd like to see described, if the answer is yes!)

Question about Japanese Dolls

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 26, 2008, 11:08 PM
Sorry! I've been delinquent, and life gets us busy sometimes! But am back now and intending to put more up again soon. ^_^

My Question:

I came across some wonderful dolls, I believe they are Japanese (I'll have to get out the camera sometime)...these dolls are very round, with lovely patterned material, and porcelain faces. I think their inside must be made of styrofoam? I searched the net but couldn't find out what kind of dolls these are!

Though I fell in love with "Kokeshi" dolls and such! It makes me want to create something of my own like that! If anyone knows of some good sites where I can research into these type of dolls and the more traditional stuff, please send a link over~! I would be grateful! :)

Are they similar to the little half-sphere, many pearl adorned girl in the middle of my doll tank here:

Or maybe like my male and female on either side of the tank? Do let me know and I'll see if I can't track down some more info... >^-^<

Hi Ukonzukai! Thanks so much for responding! Yes!!

They look very similar to the ones on the very bottom left and bottom right, the short round ones with no limbs.

Honestly all the dolls are so beautiful. I grew up in America and never liked dolls there much but I love these dolls so much! I don't want to put you out too much but if you know anything about them or can point me in the right direction, I'd love it!
